Cold Weather Reminders

January 15, 2015

Bridges parents, it’s that time of year again.  It’s cold outside!  We want to touch base about a couple of cold weather reminders.

  1. Please remember to bundle your kids up before drop-off in the mornings.  When really chilly, please include hats and mittens/gloves.  We love to go outside every day we can and hate to see any of the kids without toasty outerwear!  Make sure to label all extra gear with your child’s name; we have a lot of removable clothing items this time of year, and labels help us keep our students and teachers organized.
  2. As a reminder, Bridges and Beyond will follow Franklin County Public School’s Inclement Weather announcements. If  FCPSS is closed, Bridges and Beyond will be closed.  IF FCPSS is delayed, Bridges will still open at regular scheduled times, delays will not affect start time.  However, if FCPSS closes schools early due to inclement weather, then all afternoon classes and programs will close.   We will not schedule a make-up day unless there are more than four missed days of school.
  3. We tend to have more kids with sicknesses during the cold weather months, so as a reminder, here’s our illness policy:
If your child is sick or unusually irritable or tired, please do not send him/her to school. They need to be free from fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and contagious virus, or have been on an antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school. If he/she has thick, green mucus from the nose continuously, please keep them home as well. This indicates an infection that is contagious to others. We appreciate your extra caution for the purpose of keeping the other students and teachers well, and children can have the ones they love the most nurturing them while not feeling well.

Thanks as always for your support and for letting us be a part of your child’s day-to-day!
